Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEIs) is a vital educational network in Pakistan, operating under the Ministry of Defence. It aims to provide quality education to the children of armed forces personnel as well as civilian employees, especially in cantonments and garrisons across the country. Over the years, FGEIs have become known for their disciplined environment, high academic standards, and holistic student development.
Background and Establishment
FGEIs were established in 1975 with the vision of providing uniform and high-standard education to the children of defense and civilian personnel. Initially operating under the Ministry of Education, the institutions were later placed under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence to better serve the educational needs of military families stationed across Pakistan.
The central idea behind FGEIs was to bridge the educational gap in cantonment areas, where quality schooling options were limited. Today, the FGEI Directorate (Cantonments & Garrisons) manages hundreds of schools and colleges in all provinces of Pakistan.
